Thankyou CSF!

These are a very informative resource.. Perhaps this is worthy of a sticky?

'Stretch' is a great term to use for describing the dynamics of dirt!

Oh yeah... The octave fuzz gate: :pedallove

Hi there,

Upcoming facebook event

Facebook Live Stream with Björn Juhl

Saturday the 5th of November 2016; 2 to 8 p.m (EET)

https://www.facebook.com/customsoundsfinland

The Hunt for the Ultimate Overdrive

• How can I achieve the same overdriven tone at different volume levels?
• Why is everybody always talking about power amp distortion?

• Which different gain stages can a guitarist use?

This live stream will be held by legendary guitar effects- and amp-designer Björn Juhl. Björn has over 30 years of hands-on experience in the field of guitar amp and effects design, and his products are revered worldwide. Don’t miss this opportunity to see one of the true legends of our time.

Workshop will focus solely on one point: Getting natural and great sounding drive tones is a daily challenge for all guitarists. Björn Juhl will approach the problem from a musician’s viewpoint. He will show you how to make the most of your already existing equipment, to arrive at the tone you have been searching for.

If you’ve always wanted to know exactly how overdrive

and distortion sounds are produced by guitar equipment, this is the place to be!
Who:

Björn Juhl, an amp and effects designer, who is held in the highest regard the world over. His designs include products made by Mad Professor and One Control. His own handmade BJF custom effects are sought after by collectors and players alike.

Programme:

14.00 Welcome coffee, getting to know the hosts and premises

Custom Sounds’ Kimmo Aroluoma opens the training workshop and welcomes the participants.

14.30 – 16.00 How do effects pedals and amp circuits differ in terms of drive tones?

Björn will talk about the way different circuits work at different signal and volume levels. He will explain why some gain sounds are more desirable than others, and why some players never use pedals for their distortion tones, while others will employ several different pedal effects to arrive at their signature sound.

16.00 - 17.30 What are the differences between well-

known amplifier brands in terms of their design?

Björn will tell us why some brands and models are more popular than others, when it comes to crunch tones. He will show us how playing dynamics affect the character of distortion sounds, and how to achieve musical feedback at low volume levels.

17.30 - 18.00 Coffee and sandwich break

18.00 - 19.30 Why is everybody always so keen on power amp distortion?

Björn will explain in layman’s terms, what power amp distortion means, how it is produced, and why everybody has their own idea of the meaning of the term.

19.30 - 20.00 Summary

20.00 The workshop ends

Custom Sounds workshops have become extremely popular in a very short time. Attendees value the opportunity to discuss all things guitar with some of our country’s most famous musicians, as well as getting the nitty-gritty from seasoned technicians. The result gives the participants a fresh, new outlook on their equipment and their personal playing style. Earlier workshops have touched on issues, such as building a pedalboard, troubleshooting equipment,

correctly dealing with earth loops, guitar maintenance, as well as live and studio setups. The next workshops are planned for the spring of 2017.
