Ok....another BJF demo done pretty quick and rough(really cold and set up quick)...equipment details are on YT...amp is up fairly loud and in a small room, so...
Actually the I-phone recordings can sound quite OK with louder settings if recording is done in a much larger room(but then placement is critical) where the phone compression doesn't squash things so much and the midrange, although still a bit funky, is less pronounced.
Anyway..like what accolades have been offered so far, similar for me...there are a lot of great tones/settings in here, and yes, it IS all about the edge control...like what can be said about a lot of pedals, that they sound better turned up...well, I've gotten great tones with most all of BJ's drives and fuzzes at low to moderate levels, and true for the Model D as well, however, I feel even moreso than some of the other drives, this one has to be turned up a bit to be fully realized and appreciated( cookin' but certainly not deafening)...those that have one I believe know what I'm talking about.......and the D really has it's own thing going on compared to the other BJF drives....the only bit of related cross-over I hear is in some settings on the Deluxe Honey Bee more toward the CCW position on the nature knob, but the D has truly got it's own feel, vibe, and grind that is really satisfying and fun to play.
Oh...also....I'm a gain hog for sure, and I play primarily with humbuckers, but my D has boatloads of gain...I don't use it past the drive setting on the video currently, but with the compression, there is a lot to work with...it's a scorcher...I wonder how other's feel about theirs...lastly, I'm not much of a stacker at all...I prefer the original sound a feel of each drive, and although I'm sure there might be great combos to hit up front with, I just wouldn't want to mess with all that gushy sweet David Lindley Dumble crunch and sustain
