Model D

Cool! The Model D or a Trainwreck type pedal would hit the one sound my amps won't do on their own. Does the Model D play nice into a dirty tweed type amp? None of my amps have a master volume and so far all of Bjorn's pedals are just fine into low or high volume/OD amps. Only my Model R is fussy, but it kills if I can only take one pedal.

Cool sounding pedal. I wonder how the sound will compare to the lower gain setting on the Bearfoot Model Hs- I've always thought there was a good deal of Dness in the first fraction of the Model H gain knob. I haven't played the Hs yet, but I adore the Model H 4Knobs lowest gain settings, and this seems like a similar eq response to that sort of tone, but with knobs that adjust and tweak the responsiveness totally differently.

Thank you yes I like the lowest Model H 4K sound- I must try the MHs5K through my Super Reverb.
I really did like MH through a Two Rock once.

Yes the Model D is a rather different design and recording with an iPhone is tricky

Model D has four controls
Volume and Drive
and then a Body control that sets the bottomend and further an Edge control that can change the sound from soft to sharp and that is the most important control in my mind.

I have had an artist make the boxes for Model D- same guy that once did the Model G and also some other one off's.
I got the last Model D boxes from Gunnar the other day and sadly it will take considerable time before Gunnar may
make another encloser and I have ran out of offers he can't refuse

I would encourage anyone to tap into spotify and listen to gunnar's saturdaymix and I also recommend seeing his band live

As a consequence the last Artist Model D's are up for sale.
Then we shall see what becomes of Model D......hm octagons...

Future may hold some Donnerboxes like in the old days

Responsiveness is a good description... Both have really nice 'string feel' I find the MH and MD to not be so very similar though... but I do feel that there is a 'rasp' going on with them both and they have that very satisfyingly dynamic compression that you can really play with.

The iphone is distinctly lo-fi in a HD kind of way haha! As BJ and I discussed, the mids get wierd and the placement is of course quite critical when recording. Add to this some youtube compression and what ever sort of audio/video system the end result is experienced on (everyone has something different) and it becomes really hard to know the core essence of the sound in the first place.. time to upgrade..

My latest visit to the lab was most enlightening...

Just received mine and I must say that it's one hell of a pedal!!! X
I don't think that I've ever written this before but: Every setting actually IS, not only usable but GREAT sounding. I've got a new favourite OD/Distortion-pedal

Here it is in the wonderful (?) colour of "husvagnsbrun" (It'll be interesting to see what google traslate will make out of that ).

Ok, been able to play the "D" a bit more.

As always with Björn's stuff there's something special about the midrange.

When listening to the Mad Professor demo where they compare the sound of a Simble pedal through a Fender amp (which is a great sound I must say) with the sound of a Dumble amp, I feel that the midrange of the "Model D" might be closer to midrange of the Dumble. (Difficult to compare, I know, but I think that you get what I'm trying to say!)
Maybe the mids of the "D" is even creamier sounding than the mids of the amp as they seem "drier" somehow.

As mentioned before this pedal is very touch sensitive and dynamic with a great feel to the string attack.
Both the "Body" and "Edge-controls" are usable throughout their entire range and so is also the Gain control.

Here the "D" is side by side with another dynamic and touch sensitive pedal (the "Incognito" by Goddess Fuzzes)

Thanks for the review as it is interesting to compare notes and I can really relate to your descriptions.. The funny thing is that I have tried the MD with a variety of amps and it is always, always good to go.. So easy to dial in a great sound and I can always find that D 'grunt' that I like quite easily What amp/guitar do you use?
