so I installed the NS LF 353N in mine and all I can say is WOW there definitely is a difference and IMHO it just seems to my ears that the pedal now sounds brighter and much more responsive with a more amp like break up.

great little upgrade :!: using a power adaptor so I haven't noticed any low voltage noise so for me it's a win/win :D

Yeah I believe thats close to the original chip Bjorn selected for it ..... it has less compression and less distortion complexity which gives it a bit more punch .... but some wanted it to break up a bit easier and develop a bit of compression on its own.... its good to have choices, eh?

This is of interest to me. Who did you order the LF353N from? Thanks for the info, and thanks to whoever started this thread!

Reviving this thread. On my way to purchase a new LGW and already want to experiment with the LF353 chip. Anyone know how hard it is to swap them out and a reputable place to purchase (though i assume that its pretty easy online)? How hard is it to swap these chips out?

Well looks like I won't be getting the LGW after all though I might still go for the handwired MP in the meantime :) What chip is in your CRW (lucky guy, the only one-off LGW !!!). Did you do some experimenting ?
