Thanks for all the photos! The finished board makes it look easier than it does as a jumble of parts. :wave:

You also know when you are a full time Dad when as you scroll down and see a glass of liquid that close to the computer and feel a true sense of panic!

Well, I'm a fulltime dad and after a day full of panic that glass of liquid could have stood on top of the computer and I wouldn't have cared! Haha, they are a handfull! That glass of wine and the Buster made my day ;).

Parenting has held me back from completing mine thus far... :D

Perhaps tomorrow night... With pics. And maybe some wine. I rarely drink, but this thread has been... Inspiring.

I haven't even opened the box since the day it came. I have been trying to get some practice in on guitar and even with the few hour I have today it has been difficult.

Maybe I need to try drinking :joker The last alcohol I have had, if you don't count NyQuil, was the evening my first child was born 10/17/04 when the wife and I split a 4 pack of Guinness. We had unforeseen difficulties during delivery which meant emergency C-section and they had to call the second Doctor in, she was out picking pumpkins, before we/they could deliver. We found out later there is a 50% mortality rate for the baby with the complications we had as well as a good chance of losing my Wife!

I probably could have drank a lot more to calm the nerves, but I had never held a baby before and it was just so soothing to hold him. I held him so much I actually damaged the tendons in my thumbs and hands to where I had to stop playing guitar and go to PT.

Hopefully my first pedal build will be less dramatic! :phew

Going to pickup up my Busters from the Post office today :mailbox

They took a while to get through Thai customs ( 10 days :confusedq ) but it looks good now.

I'll update with pics as I go :salute

So - Progress is being made!!

Time to start on the board.

One problem so far, perhaps someone can help me out. The 2 pole LED doesn't seem to want to fit the LED holder. I've got some single pole LEDs and holders so I'm wiring one of those up for now. Any suggestions??

I think you'll have to bend the leads slightly to get it all to fit

Roger that Cliff, I went with a single pole LED for the first one and it worked out OK. I may have a go at squeezing a bi-pole LED into the LED holder tomorrow an see how that works.

I had some teething problems building the first one:

First off I had soldered all of the Filter caps directly onto the board, then I realised that it was going to be a real tight squeeze so I opted to solder extra legs onto them and lean them over. A little heat shrink over the top just top be safe :D.

Second problem was a broken wire to the BAT tab. Easy fix.
Now everything is working ( as far as I can tell ) and I had a quiet test run though an amp but I'll have to wait until tomorrow before I get to unleash it properly.

I think the next ones will be much quicker to build now i've figured it all out. Great kit Cliff, and awesome boxes Donner, sweet layout Bsic and of course, once again, hats off to Bjorn! Thanks to all who made this kit possible.

Looks excellent!

And yes, it's best to lay the caps over on their side as best you can to make sure it will all fit :thumbup:

I'm hoping to build mine this weekend. I keep getting sidetracked with other projects but this weekend ought to be a good one to knock out the cherry buster :glasses

Will of course include my experience and photos. :music

Sweet, I'll look forward to hearing how you find it.

I'm probably going to do another one tomorrow morning while my Mrs is at college. I only managed to get away with making this one today because I 'persuaded' her to go out shopping :P
