^ Missed that razor blade hole filling trick... I like that.

So, I know pretty much nothing about painting, but saw some duplicolor "fake anodized look" paint used over at DIYstompboxes.com for a nice transparent look. I figured if you can paint a car with it, you can paint a stompbox so I picked up their paint pens for writing and some solid colrs to try out. Seems to work pretty well so far, easy to apply and lots of color options.

The "anodized" ones leave enough of the metalgrain or underpainting that it looks pretty nice. i think that it'd allow for some subtle effects once I figure this painting thing out a bit better. (the folk fuzz box is in the build thread)

I'm curious how it'll hold up after some stompings, but for now I'm happy with them.

With the green one I tried to underpaint the top with some white to brighten that side up. Didn't really show up that well, maybe yellow and thicker next time... and, of course, the metalgrain doesn't show up in photos, but in person its way more obvious.

(the DVT is gonna be a mod'd tube scremer, the meat sweats is gonna be a fuzzfor a friend's christmas gift, and the blue one a CE-2 based vibe in case there was curiosty)

Your boxes look good! The Folk Fuzz box is also really good.

Thanks for the tips on the duplicolour pens - I'll look out for those when I try some experiments myself.
Not sure about calling a pedal "DVT" - also stands for deep vein thrombosis! :D
Then again, why not? An OD that can cause blood clots in the legs!

Thanks!

If you're using those pens, give 'em a try on the inside of the box, I got one that was pretty heavy on the paint and gave me thick letters and a blob or two. Most of them worked really well though.

The DVT thing was intentional. The science geek in me figured veins were pretty much just tubes... so I was going to call it "luminal rage" or something like that instead of just "tube screamer". DVT fit on the box better though.

Tubes as in veins! You a have a great sense of humor sir. The "Fade In" painted ones look the most appealing. Keep up the good work.

Hey peoples....
Post some more paint jobs of your Folk Fuzz builds!

 The build isn't complete if you go without submitting your creations for ridicule & praise.

OT slightly;
Does anyone have a clue how the Zenkudo(sp) builder does those Abalone shell tops? I found a firm that puts out a sticker material that will pass for Ab shell but one has to question its longevity as a surface. A surface where sinister footwear have been know to tread. 8)

I'm in the market for another airbrush compressor approximately 1/8 ~ 1/4 HP. My jones is back to airbrush again. I found a box with 6 airbrushes I forgot I owned.

Here are a couple boxes I did earlier this year. Just splashed a few different colors down, moved them around and did some swirlies with a toothpick, and called it a day.

Anyone have any experience with acrylics from an airbrush, good or bad?
